Growing up on boiled veg and over-cooked lamb (sorry mum) on a rural farm in Canterbury NZ, Julian Richards dreamed of travelling the world...wine was the key to unlocking this.
Julian travelled after studying viticulture and working at Seresin Estate, Marlborough. He met and learnt from some of the most dynamic farmers, winegrowers and winemakers.
Visiting five continents, enjoying incredible flavours, absorbing divine landscapes and drinking quality wines, Julian discovered produce with true sense of ‘place’. Being part of organic and biodynamic growing seasons in six countries and more than 10 different regions allowed him to enjoy the creation of premium, thoughtful and environmentally aware wines.
Julian's love for all this led him to Rudolf Steiner College (NZ), focussing on biodynamics.
Now his journey has led Julian to Krinklewood; a beautiful, boutique, biodynamic farm in the Hunter Valley. Here he has found a healthy, diverse, quality farm where he can continue his life journey along-side other thoughtful farmers.
Julian wants to let the farm and environment truly speak. The resultant wine and produce will glow and show its true colours.
