As Chief Winemaker for one of Australia's most popular wine brands, it's a rare treat for Bernard to go down to Jacob's Creek for a spot of fishing.
The fact that one of Bernard’s favourite pastimes is fly fishing is no surprise if you know him.
Attention to detail, patience and dedication have been the very characteristics that have brought him to be chief winemaker of one of Australia’s most popular wine brands.
So it’s lucky, really, that Bernard worked for a winery near a creek. In fact the year Bernard joined Orlando Wines was 1976, the same year that the first vintage of Jacob’s Creek was released.
Since then his dedication to the quality of the grapes in the vineyard and his passion for true varietal expression have been fundamental to Jacob’s Creek’s strong reputation for its quality contemporary Australian wines.
So it is rather nice that, despite a hectic schedule, he can still take the time to grab his hat, sunscreen and fly-rod and enjoy a bit of quiet time in his favourite creek of all.
