In the vast wilderness of Tasmania, little has changed since Abel Tasman first sighted the west coast of the the island in 1642, aboard his flagship - the Heemskerk.
Centuries later in 1965, the first Heemskerk vineyards were planted and since then, have built a reputation for wines that capture the integrity and purity of Tasmanian terroir.
Today, with Tasmania in her blood, Heemskerk Winemaker Anna Pooley produces exceptional wines that are kept pure with elegant fruit expression. Born and raised in the Coal River Valley in South Eastern Tasmania, she was eight years old when her first visit to a winery left lasting impressions: the smells, the rows of barrels, the bees in the press tray, the sweet juice.
Anna has a passion for cool climate Tasmanian fruit and her winemaking philosophy is to let the purity of the fruit speak for itself.
