Yaldara Wines
Winegrower
Barossa Valley
Story by Yaldara
Yaldara was named after the Aboriginal word 'sparkling' back in 1947 and like its name, the winery is steeped in heritage and tradition.
Established by German winemaker, Hermann Thumm over 60 years ago, Yaldara has been producing high quality wines ever since.
With a magnificent chateau-style building surrounded by vineyards, the winery has long been recognised as one of the most picturesque in the Barossa Valley.
Underneath the winery is a maze of unique underground cellars that are the perfect environment for ageing wines, in particular the fortified wines Yaldara is now renowned for. While in the maze of cellars, winemakers constantly unearth selections of rare and premium fortifieds. These are blended to create some of the highest quality and unique ports available on the market, ranging from special release vintage ports to a highly prized 40-year-old Rare Tawny.
Since its inception, Yaldara has been producing fortified wines and it is this experience combined with heritage and tradition that makes it one of the leading producers in the region.
