Nepenthe Wines Winegrower Adelaide Hills Story by Nepenthe

Nepenthe was built on a dream and fittingly named after the ancient Egyptian herbal drink so powerful that it eases grief and banishes sorrow from the mind

In 1994, the Tweddell's followed their passion for wine and purchased a property in Lenswood. The property was carefully selected and proven varieties planted like Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay as well as something a little different, Pinot Gris and Zinfandel. As the vines grew so did the number of vineyards with Balhannah, Charleston and Hafndorf now added

The combination of ancient soil and cool climate has made Nepenthe and the region internationally recognised for producing vibrant aromatic whites like Sauvignon Blanc and intensely flavoured, yet remarkably elegant reds. Although the climate seems a world away, it's only a 30min drive from Adelaide to experience the rolling tapestry of gum trees, vines and pasture.

Their winemaking philosophy is less is more, they let the vines talk for them and when they are in such a picturesque landscape it is no wonder they're so proud of what they produce.
