Duncan Buchanan, Chief Winemaker at Dromana Estate, believes he's fortunate to work in one the most beautiful and unique wine growing areas in the world and most importantly, it’s home.
Having grown up here, Duncan understands the Mornington Peninsula is a very complex and compact strip of land. And the fact that that it's surrounded on three sides by water also has a big impact on the wines.
The area is renowned for cool climate varietals such as Pinots and Chardonnays however it also offers the opportunity to produce superb Italian varietals such as Arneis and Grigio - this is what Duncan and the team have been able to do with their "i" Range.
As with any wine, it is all about bringing together the tradition of enjoying food and wine and great company. Having worked a few vintages in France and Italy, Duncan knows the Europeans do it best - but he thinks the Australian culture is fast catching up.
