Tony Hunter, Winegrower, Heathcote

Tony Hunter Winegrower Heathcote Story by Sanguine Estate

A family business was his dream and he had all but given up until a hobby farm intended for retirement turned into a family wine business called Sanguine Estate.

Tony Hunter had always wanted a family business. A legacy that could be passed down from generation to generation to ensure the families financial independence. The dream was all but lost until he and his wife Linda visited a farm in Heathcote that bordered an iconic Heathcote wine brand.

An avid lover of Heathcote Shiraz, Tony decided that he could plant some vines and live a retirement lifestyle dream overlooking his own vineyard whilst drinking his own wine.

With grape supply contracts knocking at his door and a sold out sign being posted within three days of the release of his first Sanguine Estate Shiraz vintage, Tony could see the potential and started to grow.

Needing help in the vineyard and to run the business he turned to son Mark (Sanguine's full time vigneron and winemaker), and daughter Jodi (General Manager). You can read about their stories as well.
