Killinchy Wines in WA are daring to be different. Their philosophy is to have fun - and cause a bit of a stir, which their Frisky Midget brand does!
Frisky Midget was born in the Blackwood Valley. It's an irreverent little minx, poking fun at the wine world and causing a stir.
The wines are as distinct as the labels and behaviour. It's not into pomp and arrogance, and doesn't take itself too seriously.
For those interested in the technical gaff, their vineyard is perched on the top of the scarf south of Bridgetown, WA. It's set on duplex gravelly loams, meaning the top soil is free-draining with a deeper clay base as the extra store of hard to get water in summer. Warm days and cool nights are great for varieties like Shiraz, building flavours of plumbs and dark cherries and keeping them fresh by preserving the acids through the nights.
Most importantly their wines are full of flavour and a joy to share, which follows their maxim...."for those who enjoy the ODD wine"
