Senior Winemaker, Melanie is proud to continue the Italian winemaking heritage at Salena Estate and believes the Riverland has the perfect climate for growing wine grapes that make remarkable wines.
Melanie carries on the fine tradition of being involved every step of the way from Vineyard to packaging, and by making the most of the Riverland climate, has produced a unique wine using the Italian Bianco d'Alessano white grape.
Since 2005, Melanie has worked to ensure the emergence of this winery as a producer of high quality wines, while respecting the Riverland region with approximately 200 acres of the estates vineyards organically certified. She has discovered that the Riverland's climate is perfectly suited to some alternative varieties, with the right plantings in the right place achieving some spectacular results.
The winery's first winemaker still visits Melanie regularly to offer some good old Italian advice and have a look at the latest wines Melanie is producing. Along with making wines Melanie is also passionate about her family and showing her Staffordshire Bull Terriers.
