John Sprigg, Vigneron, Great Southern

John Sprigg Vigneron Great Southern Story by Trevelen Farm

With a family history in the wine industry dating back to the 1850s in South Australia, it is no wonder Trevelen Farm is an award-winning winery.

Trevelen Farm was established in 1993 but its origins can be traced back to South Australia in the 1850s.

It was there that John Sprigg's Great Grandparents Henry and Lydia Douglas had 53 acres under vine in what is now a suburb of Adelaide - Happy Valley.

Henry and Lydia were pioneers in the South Australian wine industry, with Henry working was an Inspector of Vines in the region. The family continued its involvement into the 1960s.

It's no wonder that John has established an uncompromising reputation at Trevelen Farm given his ancestry.

The winery produces top quality Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay - and all are award-winning wines.

John is also meticulous in his approach towards viticulture, with Trevelen using only sustainable viticultural practices at its home vineyard and John insisting on this approach in all vineyards under its control.
