DAVID CONSTABLE, Vigneron, Hunter

DAVID CONSTABLE Vigneron Hunter Story by CONSTABLE ESTATE VINEYARDS

How do you blend fine wines, gardens and music? On a painted Swiss cow, of course. Look at the song on her collar to know how she got her name.

Have you ever wanted to own and operate a vineyard? According to David Constable, it requires “perseverance and attention to detail”.

David has written two editions of a book documenting the local history, environment and life among the vines in the Hunter Valley.

But his property is much more than a vineyard. The tranquil beauty of the Herb, Rose, Camellia and Secret Gardens, the gracious fruit orchard, Geometric Organic Vegetable Garden and superb sculptures, add harmony and balance. These qualities are also reflected in the outstanding Constable Estate Vineyard wines and the owner’s much-acclaimed annual chamber music festival.

Constable’s Gillards Road property, with its rich soil and natural undulations, grows some of the finest local grapes.
Visitors come to taste the award-winning wines, take the garden tours and make friends with Matilda, the painted cow and inspiration for her own exciting range of wines.
