Stephanie Toole, Winemaker, Clare Valley

Stephanie Toole Winemaker Clare Valley Story by Mount Horrocks Wines

If you’ve met Stephanie Toole, wine maker extraordinaire, passionate collector of Australian art, mother of two teenage children, exceptional cook with an astonishing palate, and partner of a ho-hum winemaker....

It’s an experience you won’t have forgotten.

Most of the above is true (guess the bit that isn’t) but if you ever cross paths with Stephanie, the owner and winemaker of Mount Horrocks Wines, in Auburn, South Australia, you don’t want to get in her way. She is single-minded in her ambitions and knows what she wants, in the winery, with her art collection, from her children and most of all from the grapes she crushes.

Her living spaces are littered with art purchases, from the pictured cupcakes by a local seven-year-old to collector items from renowned Australian artists, including indigenous artworks. But crafting wine from her estate owned vineyards is her first passion.

If you haven’t met her, it’s time you did, preferably at her cellar door in the old railway station in Auburn, home of artwork, exceptional food, and some of Australia's finest wines.
