When the Haan family arrived in the Barossa after travelling the world, they knew they had found a home.
They purchased a 16-hectare vineyard initially bought in 1853 by George Friedrich Schmidt for one pound an acre. The 1850s farmhouse was renovated and the vineyard spawned a new boutique winery and a gracious garden for them to pursue their dreams.
The blend of the old classic Barossa feel and subtle Mediterranean influence in their home is a philosphy they carry over to their wines.
As they hoped, their wines are enjoyed as symbols of the Barossa's simple elegance - a reflection of truly special wine traditions.
The first wine was made in 1997 and current production remains around 4000 caes per annum with all wines made from fruit grown on the estate.
