A great discovery. It was love of the land that became something of an obsession to create a truly outstanding and iconic vineyard now known as Woodside Valley Estate.
Peter Woods purchased the northern Margaret River property in early 1998 and it was at this stage, Peter had to decide on a name. Looking for inspiration, Peter was enjoying a walk through the vineyard and stumbled across the property farmhouse which adorned the words ‘Woodside’. As Peter was also born in ‘Woodside Hospital’ and carries the ‘Woods’ name, the winery was destined to become ‘Woodside Valley Estate’.
Woodside Valley Estate has a series of wines titled The Baudin Collection. The collection has been named after Thomas Nicholas Baudin and his crew of scientists who lead the greatest French expedition to Western Australia.
Now in it’s 10th vintage, Woodside is a ‘James Halliday’ five star winery and is known to be the first WA producer to win the coveted 2008 UK Wine & Spirits Competition ‘Warren Winiarski’ trophy for the best cabernet sauvignon, beating 357 entries from around the world.
