Every November Tim and Nicky Stevens from Hungtington Estate in Mudgee host an extraordinary party. 500 guests twice a day with fine music, wine and food.
Each spring as the vines are exploding to life, Huntington Estate gets ready to welcome devoted classic music lovers to Mudgee.
Barrels are tucked in the back and the hall is suddenly filled with exquisite sounds of the finest overseas and domestic artists. The event has been a highlight for more than 20 years and has become one of the most commanding music festivals in the world.
For five days a lunchtime and evening concert is held. Among the gnarly old vines and glorious Mudgee weather, a sumptuous meal featuring local produce is then served. Much Huntington Estate wine – renowned as being traditional and age-worthy - is consumed.
The music-lovers leave with the famous ‘Huntington Glow’ on their faces. And the wines, sitting quietly in barrels at the back, have been gently vibrated and harmonised, producing their own glow.
