According to Pertaringa’s vineyard custodian Richard Leask, moon phases and planet positions make for a great wine and a healthy vineyard.
Inspired by a trip to Burgundy in 2005, Richard started applying biodynamic principles to the family-owned McLaren Vale vineyards in 2006. The Pertaringa team has since been using this alternative approach where you look at the physical, cosmic and spiritual aspects of the vineyard to produce the very best wine possible.
Since 2006, there has also been a ‘back to the future’ approach in the vineyard with careful re-working of Shiraz back to its original early 1970s shape. All this will ensure that the legacy of its two gentlemen founders - Geoff Hardy and Ian Leask, who set out to make great wines to be drunk with friends and family - will be carried on for years to come.
