Paramdeep Ghumman, Winemaker, Mornington Peninsula

Paramdeep Ghumman Winemaker Mornington Peninsula Story by Nazaaray Estate Winery

Australian winemaker with an Indian Heritage, Paramdeep Ghumman is the dash of colour and spice on the Mornington Peninsula's winery scene.

Well known for his passion for fiery curries and Pinot, whether it is noir or gris, Parramdeep stands out a mile in his colourful turbans and engaging shy manner. People are totally intrigued with the odd combination and when asked about it Paramdeep says he ended up being a vigneron and a winemaker because he had a touch of the Australian sun!

Paramdeep planted his first vines in 1996 and his wife Nirmal in jest named the patch Param's Folly. She has had to eat humble pie. Their second patch of plantings is called Zubeidaa. Nirmal refers to it as Param's second wife since he spends so much time in it along with Sheeba the resident labrador . Another block is called the Mercedes block!

Param’s heritage, complemented by this cool climate location has allowed him to successfully develop a spicier style pinot noir.
