The Poonawatta property is certified under the Australian Land Management (ALM) Certification System. Poonawatta's actions are founded on land management practices that reduce soil erosion, improve water quality, enhance soil health, maximise biodiversity as well as protecting native flora and fauna, while maintaining wine grape production standards to maximise quality.

The Holts have implemented a range of practices to manage their environmental impact, including eliminating pesticides and herbicides, establishing native grasses in the vineyard, developing wind breaks of indigenous plants and keeping tractor work to a minimum.

Michelle & Andrew’s passion for producing the best wines from their old vines is underpinned by a commitment to ensure sustainability in all viticulture practices. They support conservation and bio-diversity and in doing so, continue to have a healthy, environmentally responsible and productive farm for future generations.
