Pat & Kirsten Hardiker, Vigneron, Gippsland

Pat & Kirsten Hardiker Vigneron Gippsland Story by Cannibal Creek Vineyard

Pat and Kirsten, a Gen X winemaking team from Gippsland, think the name has been corrupted from an original leaseholder called Connabul, it's evokes wild speculation ....they've just planted grapes

They've worked tirelessly in the establishment years, nurturing vines by hand. It's like training 10,000 tomato plants to grow exactly the amount of tomatoes per vine you want, with the specific ripeness and flavour a perfect tomato should have!

It's fraught with difficulty and so many things can interfere with your plans. They believe making wine is a mixture of science and art, management of the terroir and ultimately taking responsibility for success or failure. There's drought, bushfires, smoke, frost, hail, pest, disease and navigating hundreds of decisions over a year of growing and a plethora more during winemaking.

They think it's an amazing journey each and every vintage. Wine, it's alive, it evolves and ultimately encapsulates place and a moment in time. Pat and Kirsten's is a minerally flinty style born from granitic soils. It's their story to share and it evokes passion in both maker and drinker.....
