Jeff Moss Vigneron Margaret River Story by Moss Brothers

Two Vine Moss. Occasionally an astute observer will ask the Cellar Door people ‘what’s the story behind the vines with two trunks? '

The story goes back to the time when Moss Brothers grew dried fruit just outside Mildura. They grew Zante Currants, and during a redevelopment program, the currants were replaced with double planted (2 vines per place) Sultanas. These vines produced abundant crops and were a novelty albeit on a trellis far too exotic for Margaret River.

Moving forward to Margaret River and the memory of the double planted Sultanas remained vivid. When time came to plant this property they put two cuttings per place, with the success of 50 years ago in mind, and with the mentality that if one cutting died, maybe the other would survive.

No one warned them that seed sown on stony ground will grow in Margaret River so they finished up with virtually a 100% strike rate.

So that's the short answer to the question.
It’s not two trunks it's two vines.
Two vine Moss.
