Peter & Christie Schulz, Winegrower, Barossa Valley

Peter & Christie Schulz Winegrower Barossa Valley Story by Turkey Flat Vineyards

On the banks of Tanunda Creek, in the heart of the Barossa where bush turkeys once roamed, the Silesian settler Johann Fiedler planted the first Shiraz vines in 1843.

Highly suited to the terroir, they thrived, and in 1865 the land was purchased by Gottlieb Ernst Schulz, a butcher of sound reputation.

Four generations later, Peter and Chistie Schulz made the transition from grape growing to winemaking, handcrafting this pristine old fruit into a superb range of wines.

Not only are these wines a perfect example of how varieties such as mouvedre, grenache, viognier, marsanne and roussanne can work elsewhere in the world, but the perfect expression of the warm Barossa climate.
