Synonymous with our precious environment, the Tidswell Vineyards lie on an ancient limestone ridge in terra rossa soils near Bool Lagoon, a significant wetland in South Australia.
The first and still the only winery in Wrattonbully was built by Ben in 1998 to provide custom winemaking to Limestone Coast growers, being centrally located and down the road from the world heritage Naracoorte Caves.
For Ben, it was a natural progresssion from the science of dentistry to winemaking, considering his love of 'all things wine'. Most of the vineyards are geographically just outside that other well known region, Coonawarra, so while being a marketing challenge, this hasn't deterred Ben and his wife, Andrea from successfully surging ahead with domestic and overseas sales. They believe their premium varietal wines are consistently good enough to stand out among champions; the proof being in the 150 international medals won to date.
A new cellar door is being conveniently built in Adelaide, to be open for business from the second half of 2010 so "customers can get to know us better".
