Russell Hubbard, Vigneron, Great Southern

Russell Hubbard Vigneron Great Southern Story by Rickety Gate

Russell & wife Linda were exposed to unbelievable Champagnes while touring France in the 1990s; that love for all things sparkling was the main motivators to create Rickety Gate Estate.

Rickety Gate, named after the original land-owner John "Rickety" Ricketts, has invested heavily in creating their Estate Winery where winemaker, John Wade and Russell work tirelessly to produce wines of the highest quality.

Rickety Gate Wines was founded on one simple ethos; “No Compromise” and as such every part of the winemaking process is done by John and Russ; from the laborious hand plunging of the Red wines to the utilisation of a small basket press for every parcel of their red wines. This is just one example of their “Hand Made” wines and once you taste the range of Rickety Gate Wines at their impressive Cellar Door it’s patently clear the effort and attention to detail they put into their passion reflects in every one of their wines.

In fact, a recent visitor to the cellar door said the only thing "rickety" on the property was the name!
