Emma Wood believes winemaking is about creating wines of balance with texture that are regionally and varietally expressive. It's about understanding where grapes are grown - there are no formulas.
Emma feels honoured and lucky to be considered part of the Seppelt history. The Seppelt family were not averse to taking risks, such as taking over the Great Western winery in 1918, discovering the Padthaway region, and planting vines in Drumborg in 1964.
The foresight that the Seppelt family had is enviable and each day Emma thanks them for their passionate belief in striving to make the best wines.
With access to some wonderful vineyards, Emma believes the wines that Seppelt produces today are regionally expressive - yet very contemporary. They are medium bodied, elegant wines that have great aging potential and to Emma, this "formula" works!
