Sourcing the best quality fruit from premium sites and allowing its expression into the finest possible wine is the foundation of Semprevino's existence.
From the jungles of Indonesia looking for gold and the red desert of Tom Price digging for iron ore, Russell Schroder's passion for fine wine kept fermenting. Despite his challenging work as an engineer in these harsh terrains, a change in direction was inevitable.
What passed in seemingly an instant was in fact many years of winemaking study, followed by vintages on the Mornington Peninsula, and a transformative year in Barolo, Northern Italy.
Now living in Willunga, South Australia, Russell's current role as winemaker at Semprevino provides access to top quality grapes from McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills and the wines produced under the Semprevino name reflect the key philosophy that they are both true to their varietal style and a living expression of where they are from.
