In 1698 Jean Portet was born in the town of Cognac, France, and became a winemaker. From the craftsmanship he learnt in his life, he taught his son his skill.
This eager ear listened, refined the mastery and passed his expertise onto the next in line. Dominique Portet arrived in Australia and with his son Ben Portet and nine circles later, these techniques are reproduced in the hill's of Victoria's Yarra Valley. In each of his bottles you will find the culture, skills and secrets that have passed hand to hand, through all Ten Men.
The wines are produced in the esteemed hills of the Yarra Valley. Based on grey loamy clay soils, the vineyards produce a fruit quality that would have satisfied each passed generation..
Ben has his feet firmly planted in tradition while also having a vision for the future. His skills honed from around the world have a decidedly French accent and if you get close enough, you might just hear them.....
