Affectionately referred to around the vineyard as 'The Gardener', Greg Golding is actually much more than that. He is the vineyard manager, cellar door raconteur, taste-tester, veggie-grower, grandpa and babysitter.
Greg Golding and wife Connie have been hills dwellers all of their lives. Greg spent his working life as a marketer with brother Darryl at the fresh produce market in Adelaide's east end. Lifelong friends and fellow marketers, the Zerella family, then owners of Tatachilla, changed everything by asking Greg to plant a vineyard in the cool climate of Lenswood.
The first vines were planted in 1995 by Greg and son Darren. That was just the start, they then set about building the stone barn which was to be first a house and is now the cellar door. It’s the centre piece of the property along with the award winning garden that Greg tends to a daily basis.
Never forgetting a face, especially a pretty one, and armed with many a joke, Greg likes nothing more than showing guests around the property with a glass of Golding wine.
