Andrew Hardy, Winemaker, Adelaide Hills

Andrew Hardy Winemaker Adelaide Hills Story by Petaluma

Cut Andrew Hardy in half and rather than age rings, you’ll find an Adelaide Hills roadmap. Yes, when he’s not making Petaluma’s elegant, refined wines, he’s usually behind the wheel.

Andrew is Petaluma born and bred. In fact take away his Adelaide Hills air supply and he won’t survive long. He knows the area so well that you’ll often find him thundering around corners in a seriously fast classic car. He grew up around his dad’s speedsters: early Bentleys and BMWs, as well as trial cars. His Dad even trusts him enough now to lend him the keys to the 1954 Austin Healey.

He hasn’t quite emulated hero, Jack Brabham, on the track, but loves the “Sparrow’s Fart Runs” that are part and parcel of Hills life. Winding in and out of Petaluma’s beautiful vineyards with 40 other maniacs is the perfect way to check on the ripeness of the Chardonnay, Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Viognier that, like the cars, also benefit from the area’s ideal topography.

It’s simple…Carburettors, Chardonnay and Crayfish; three Cs and he's a happy man!
