Indi Lucaroni, Vigneron, Great Southern

Indi Lucaroni Vigneron Great Southern Story by Montefalco Vineyard

Passionate about his Umbrian ancestry, vigneron at Montefalco Vineyard, Baldo Lucaroni uses this as inspiration for his family-owned vineyard.

Every generation of the Lucaroni family from Umbria has produced a winemaker or vigneron - and Baldo Lucaroni is no exception.

Born in Umbria in 1942, Baldo soaked up the knowledge from his father and grandfathers and used this knowledge to plant his own vines in Umbria in 1969.

Baldo moved to Australia in 1976 and began farming sheep and wheat - but his passion was wine and Montefalco Vineyard is the realisation of his dream. Everything at Montefalco is inspired by Umbria - from the name of the vineyard (after a town in Italy) to the chemical-free practices of wine growing, with all wine made naturally like Baldo's Umbrian ancestors.

Of course, the Lucaroni family also celebrate the end of the day as they would in Umbria - with a feast and plenty of wine for all.
