Fay and Bob Reichstein
Winegrower
Riverland
Story by Reichstein Fruits
Each season in the Riverland brings its own special characteristics - and the simple morning walk always has a surprise for these Renmark wine growers.
Fay and Bob Reichstein love a morning walk through their outdoor "office" and marvel at how their majestic gum tree reflects the season! In Spring they're wary of swooping Magpies, in summer it provides shade and in winter it weaves its way through the fog but it is always there watching over their vines.
The outdoor office also includes a Rooster who sometimes struggles with his call, as though he has a stomach ache. Then there's the neighbor’s dog who often sneaks off to join them and marks their 100 acres of vineyards as his own. He’s a Riverland dog and also reflects the seasons. In summer he sits in the bird bath to cool off, in winter he stands lapping up a drink.
The Reichstein's begin their day with a walk and end it enjoying the fruits of their labours - Shiraz, Cabernet or a crisp Vermentino or Fiano.
