You may think that being a winemaker is the ultimate lifestyle choice. Add in the mobility of a VW Kombi and young Coonawarra winemaker, Luke Tocaciu, certainly enjoys the good life.
Luke works at Patrick of Coonawarra alongside his father, self proclaimed winemaking veteran Patrick Tocaciu. But it is not only a passion for wine that this family winery shares, but also a passion for the classic Kombi. Luke is the third generation of the Tocaciu family to own this unique Australian icon.
The unmistakable lime green Kombi can be spotted chugging up and down the Coonawarra strip, holding up traffic wherever it goes. When Luke is asked to do a wine delivery he doesn’t hesitate, as long as it is remotely close to a surf break or requires an overnight stay in his Kombi.
