"You're never too old to change your ways" says vigneron Mac Cleggett as he encourages visitors to try the Cleggett White Cabernet Sauvignon Shalistin and Sparkling Bronze Cabernet Sauvignon Malian.
Cleggett Wines at Langhorne Creek is proud of the innovation behind these unique wines and the history and tradition behind the family name.
The White and Bronze Cabernet Sauvignons are the result of natural evolution, and Mac holds 'Plant Breeders' Rights' on these unique varieties discovered in 1991 and 1977 respectively.
His ancestors moved from Kent (UK) to Langhorne Creek in 1851 and have been growing grapes in the region for 100 years on the same property. The link with wine sales goes back to Cleggett Wine and Spirit Merchants in Leadenhall Markets (London) in the 1800's.
In 2000 the 'macho' Mac joined with his partner Anne McLennan to make wine from the new grapes, and now you can find him drinking sparkling rosé in the evening while Anne sips on a Shiraz or Cabernet Sauvigon from the cellar below.
