Every bottle has a story. Three generations of the Hammond family have toiled together to create the vineyards of Oakway Estate, nestled in the rolling hills of Geographe in WA.
Like many wineries of the region, Oakway Estate is family owned, small and passionate about the vineyard and resulting wines.
Originally an apple and stone fruit orchard, it wasn’t until late in the 90s that owners Wayne and Ria Hammond realised the potential for growing premium grapes.
The vineyard was planted by hand with three generations of the family working together as one. Natural alternatives are used to manage the vines wherever possible, including the selection of a team of Guinea Fowl who are in charge of keeping the insect population at bay. The grapes are hand picked, and every year there are new faces, friends and fantastic memories.
The story of Oakway Estate evolves and changes each year just like the growing seasons. This is a labour of love for the Hammond family.
