Diane Miller knows what it's like to have her hands full - 7 years veterinarian practice guaranteed this - so it's no surprise she took on the challenge at Bellarmine.
Named after 15th Century hand-made jugs used to carry wine from oak cask to table, Bellarmine is located in the Pemberton region in Western Australia's south-west.
The property was bought by Willi and Gudrun Schumacher in Germany, and they asked Diane to take charge in Australia, making the wines since the first vintage in 2004.
The site was chosen partly because a German sommelier had tasted wines from the region, but more so due to the regions cool climate, soils, and relatively new status.
Each year Diane makes wines that typify Pemberton - Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir and she is also excited to be carving a Pemberton niche for Riesling. It's a truly remarkable place with a very exciting past, present, and future.
