Pamela Lincoln, Winemaker, Great Southern

Pamela Lincoln Winemaker Great Southern Story by Oranje Tractor Wine

With an email address of "queenbubbly", it should come as no surprise that Pamela - and many others in the Great Southern wine region – are Champagne fans.

In 2004, Pamela was announced winner of the national Vin de Champagne award (a 2 week, all expenses paid trip to France, visiting countless Champagne houses) in the "professional" category, along with another Albany woman in the "amateur" category that same year.

A couple of years prior to that a young woman named Sarah from Albany took out the "student section", not long after two other locals had won the award (one of whom subsequently achieved his Master of Wine).

Perhaps it's something to do with the cool, clean air and the incredible cornucopia of food grown in the Great Southern region that has helped develop these finely tuned palates - although maybe it's just a West Australian thing.

The region now is producing some fine Sparkling wines of its own, something to look out for next time you're celebrating.
